Healthy Kids Snow Day 2018

Your family isn’t going to want to miss this FREE event on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bell Park.

The City of Greater Sudbury and Healthy Kids Community Challenge has your family’s winter fun covered with lots of activities, light snacks and water, and more to help your family Power Off and Play!

Together, let’s make healthy and active the new normal.

FREE TRANSIT will be available to and from the Snow Day Venue. It’s simple, and no vouchers are required. Participants need only tell the bus driver that they are going to Snow Day

**Please note that activities may change, dependent on weather conditions.

  • Visit our petting zoo, or enjoy a pony ride

  • Start some friendly competition at our sports court

  • Borrow some snowshoes and go on a guided hike with Laurentian Outdoor Ed students.

  • Use a toboggan for hill sliding

  • Take a spin on our special skating rink on Ramsey Lake, near our event. Friendly volunteers will be on the ice giving tips and assistance to new skaters, or those who want to improve their technique! Bring your skates and helmets, or borrow some from the on-site Skate Exchange Trailer

  • Take a break at our warm up trailer

  • Start your own activity at one of our free-play zones

  • And More!

To make the event fun and accessible to everyone, Healthy Kids Snow Day will offer the following:

  • Free public transit is available (just tell the bus driver you’re going to Snow Day)

  • Warm-up trailers and a campfire are available

  • A supply of warm dry mitts, scarves, hats, boots, snow pants, socks, ski jackets provided by Our Children Our Future and Better Beginnings Better Futures

  • Free nutritious snacks, and water will be served. Don't forget to bring a refillable water bottle or cup!

  • A special warm-up area for families with babies and young children, equipped with change tables, nursing stations, and changing facilities

  • Use of helmets for children who need one

  • The Skate Exchange Trailer- where you can pick up (or borrow) a pair of gently used skates.

Note:  We welcome kids and families with all abilities to Snow Day. Some activities and all facilities will be accessible. A drop-off area is available for people using mobility aids. Drive up to the gate of Bell Park on Paris St. If a family member needs special assistance or accommodations, you can call ahead (705-674-4455 ext 4313) or check in at the registration table to let us know what might work. We'll do our best to help you have a great day.
