Description

BRIDGES OUT OF POVERTY WORKSHOPS:

Bridges Out of Poverty is considered a starting point towards a shared community-wide perspective about defining and working towards ending poverty. The workshops are designed to educate community members from middle and upper socio-economic groups on the societal factors that influence and sustain poverty and the experiences of living in poverty and barriers low-income individuals face to moving out of poverty.

IN EACH 3 HOUR WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS WILL:

  • Examine the impacts of poverty on families
  • Explore the hidden rules of poverty.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and strengths of people living in poverty.
  • Explore how access to resources impacts the way we see the world.
  • Engage in self-reflection and group exercises to further explore the concepts covered in the workshop.

WE RECOMMEND THESE INTRODUCTORY SESSIONS FOR:

Community leaders, practitioners, case managers and policy makers from:

  • Community Organizations
  • Law enforcement
  • Counselling services
  • Employment agencies
  • Health care professionals
  • Faith communities
  • Social Service providers
