If your family needs help getting your hands on some of the basic necessities of life such as clothing, shoes, furniture, strollers, car seats and school supplies, here’s a list of  second hand and thrift shops in our community that offer items at a low cost.

The Better Beginnings Better Futures Community Closet can help provide free clothing and household goods. To learn more, call (705) 671-1941.

Magasin Partage/ the Back to School Store is a program that helps with back-to-school supplies. Contact the Centre de santé communautaire du Grand Sudbury (705-670-2274) for information.

If you’re looking for something in particular, how about posting a note, including your contact information, at your local daycare, Best Start Hub or school?

Remember, websites like Kijiji offer free classifieds and facebook has groups like this one. Check them out. Someone may be giving away the very thing you’re looking for.

It’s also important to remember that some second-hand products require special attention. Here’s a list of items you’ll want to check out carefully if you’re getting them second-hand.

And, check for recalls, especially on cribs, car seats, high chairs and other baby products. Here’s the link.
