Parachute Safe Kids Week 2015

Safe Kids Week What is Safe Kids Week? Safe Kids Week is an annual public awareness campaign designed to raise awareness about the frequency and severity of preventable childhood injuries, which are the leading cause of death amongst Canadian children.

Parachute invites partners from across the country to participate in Parachute's Safe Kids Week May 4-10, 2015. The Safe Kids Week theme for 2015 is promotion and awareness of cycling and road safety in communities across Canada.  We are excited about this year’s approach, and our alignment with the United Nations Global Road Safety Week theme of children as vulnerable road users.

Informed by research and evidence-based knowledge, our efforts will focus on three key areas:

  • Helmets
  • Safe Road Users – as motorists, cyclists and pedestrians
  • Parents as role models and influencers

Parachute will support organizations with a Community Toolkit containing resources and tools to roll out a successful Safe Kids Week in your community.  You can use the toolkit to help organize activities and events around cycling and road safety in your local community.

Toolkits will be available to order for $35/kit on April 6, 2015, and will be mailed out the week of April 13, 2015.  Due to limited quantities, organizations can purchase a maximum of 2 kits.
