Activate Your Neighbourhood

Submit your event today!

Activate Your Neighbourhood, part of the Healthy Kids Community Challenge, is your chance to be part of introducing active play back into your neighbourhood. If you have an idea to get children 0-12 and their families out, active, eating well and having fun in your Greater Sudbury neighbourhood, our Healthy Kids staff at the City want to help you make it happen.

During Theme 3, Activate Your Neighbourhood supported 16 events, which served 839 adults and 717 children.

What kind of activities can be part of Activate Your Neighbourhood?

Anything that you think will get your neighbours out and having active fun together is eligible. Examples might include:

  • A skating party at your neighbourhood outdoor rink.
  • A game of capture the flag or hide and seek in your neighbourhood park.
  • A family dance party at the park, or in a school gym.
  • A boot hockey, soccer game or tennis game or mini tournament.
  • A gym night at your neighbourhood school gym.
  • A hike or snowshoe at a local hiking trail.
  • A school yard games event- skipping, kickball, foursquare...
  • Any other structured or unstructured play idea.

Who can organize an AYN Event?

Neighbourhood-based groups like Playground or Residents Associations, CANs, Child Care Centres or School Councils can organize events, but so can any interested group of neighbours. If you want to organize an event, we want to help!
